CompanyCam → Vexor migration
How to migrate from CompanyCam to Vexor (step-by-step, ~2 hours)
CompanyCam is a standalone photo app at $19-31/user/month. Vexor includes job-scoped photos (EXIF, GPS, crew attribution, tagging, client visibility, public project gallery) on every plan at no extra per-user cost. This migration is the shortest in the guide series because there's not much to move — photos live in your Vexor workspace going forward, and the CompanyCam archive stays accessible at companycam.com until you cancel. Most operators do this in an afternoon and cancel CompanyCam at month-end.
Total time: About 2 hours for a typical contractor — most of it spent downloading historical photo archives.
What transfers, what doesn't
CompanyCam exports photos per-project with their EXIF + GPS metadata intact. There's no batch-export-everything button, so the migration is "manually download the projects you care about." Tags, project notes, and comments don't round-trip cleanly — but most contractors find they re-tag photos in Vexor as part of the natural workflow (photos are uploaded under jobs, tagged by phase, attached to JSAs).
The plan
1. Inventory CompanyCam projects
15 minOpen CompanyCam → Projects. Count active projects, archived projects, total photos. Decide which historical projects you actually need photos archived from (most contractors only need the last 12 months or specific high-value jobs).
2. Download photos by project
1-2 hours (depends on volume)For each project you want to archive: open project → select all photos → Download. CompanyCam delivers a ZIP with original EXIF intact. Save these locally in a folder structure like "CompanyCam-archive/<project-name>".
3. Start a Vexor free trial
5 minField ($99) or Operations ($199) depending on what else you need. Photos are included on every plan.
4. Create Vexor jobs for active CompanyCam projects
15-30 minFor each active CompanyCam project, create a matching Vexor job (under the right customer). Use the same project name so the team recognizes it.
5. Re-upload recent photos to the matching Vexor jobs
30-45 minFor active jobs, upload the photos you downloaded into Vexor under the matching job. EXIF + GPS preserved if you uploaded ORIGINAL files (not CompanyCam-resized versions). Tag photos by phase as you go (Before/After/Progress/Issue/Material/Inspection).
6. Inform your crew of the cutover date
5 min announcementPick a Monday. From that Monday onward, all new photos go into Vexor (which they're using anyway for time clock + JSA + daily logs). CompanyCam stops being used for new work.
7. Run a parallel week
1 week (background)For one week, have one crew member upload to both apps (Vexor primary, CompanyCam backup). After the week, verify everything in Vexor is correct. Then drop the dual-upload.
8. Cancel CompanyCam
5 minCompanyCam → Settings → Billing → Cancel. Save your downloaded photo archives offline as a backup.
Common gotchas
Problem
Photos lose EXIF when downloaded from CompanyCam
Workaround
Make sure you're downloading the ORIGINAL file, not a CompanyCam-rendered preview. The download button on the photo detail page gives originals; bulk-download from project view sometimes gives resized.
Problem
Photo tags don't come over
Workaround
Vexor uses different tag categories. Most contractors re-tag photos as they're uploaded into Vexor; the new tagging matches your workflow better than the imported one would.
Problem
Project comments / annotations lost
Workaround
CompanyCam comments don't map to Vexor. If specific comments are critical evidence, screenshot them as part of your archive before cancelling.
Problem
Crew complains about uploading photos in a new app
Workaround
Vexor's upload is faster than CompanyCam's (fewer permissions prompts, no separate app to switch into) — most crews acclimate within 2 days.

Frequently asked
Will I lose CompanyCam's before/after sliders?
Vexor doesn't have an interactive before/after slider in the UI yet, but tagging photos as Before / After in Vexor groups them visually side-by-side. Slider is on the roadmap.
Does Vexor have CompanyCam's public project gallery?
Yes — every job has a configurable public gallery URL. Customer-facing photos can be marked public; internal-only photos stay private. Vexor's gallery is more job-context-aware (shows the job title, location, completion status).
What about Jobber-CompanyCam integration?
You don't need it — photos in Vexor are already attached to jobs, JSAs, and timecards. No integration to maintain or break.
How much will I save?
CompanyCam Pro at $24/user/mo × 10 users = $240/mo = $2,880/yr. Vexor Field is $1,428/yr for the same team — saving ~$1,450/yr just on photos, plus everything else Vexor adds.
What if I just want a camera app, not a full platform?
Then CompanyCam is the right tool. Vexor's photo features exist because most contractors want the photos in the workflow context (job, JSA, timecard) — but if you genuinely only want a camera app, CompanyCam is more focused.
