What slows electricians down

Lockout/tagout needs to be documented every job

OSHA 1910.147 means LOTO procedures need crew acknowledgement before energized work. Most electricians treat it as a verbal check. Vexor turns LOTO into a JSA template that crew signs from their phone on every job.

Rough-in and finish are separate workflows

A new construction electrical job has a rough-in phase (often weeks before drywall), an inspection, then a finish phase. Most software treats it as one job. Vexor handles phases with separate crew assignments and inspection events.

Permit and inspection tracking lives in email

Every job has a permit, an inspection date, and a sign-off. Vexor tracks each as a job event with reminders and photo attachments of the green tag.

Quote-to-job-to-invoice for small jobs has too much friction

A panel upgrade is a $4k job. The customer wants a quote today, the work happens next week, the invoice goes out the same day work's done. Three apps for that is too many. Vexor does it in one.

From the field

We used Jobber for years. Switched when we hit 6 electricians and the per-user math stopped making sense.

FAQ for Electricians

Does Vexor handle commercial electrical projects?

Light-commercial (tenant improvements, small office buildouts, restaurant remodels) yes. Heavy commercial with prevailing wage, certified payroll, and AIA billing is outside the sweet spot — see /alternatives/sage-construction.

Can I track parts and inventory?

Receipt uploads track material spend per job in real time. Full warehouse inventory management (truck stock, restock alerts) is not a core Vexor workflow — most electricians track this in QuickBooks or a separate inventory tool.

What about subcontracted work like fire alarm or low-voltage?

When you sub to a low-voltage or fire-alarm specialist, they get a free read-only portal showing their scope, can upload photos, mark complete. No PDF email chains.

Does Vexor integrate with permit tracking software?

No direct integration today. Permit numbers and inspection dates are tracked as job events. Photos of permits and green tags attach to the job.

How does the time clock handle prevailing wage?

Hours captured cleanly; prevailing wage reporting requires export to a separate certified-payroll tool. For non-federal residential and light-commercial work, the standard time clock + OT rules cover most electricians.

Can crews access wiring diagrams in the field?

Yes — PDFs and images attach to jobs and are viewable on mobile. Annotation support is basic; for serious blueprint markup, integrations with Bluebeam are the right pairing — see /alternatives/bluebeam.
