LOTO (Lockout/Tagout)
OSHA-required procedure for de-energizing equipment before maintenance or repair work.
Lockout/Tagout (OSHA 1910.147) requires that energy sources be isolated and locked before workers service equipment. Each worker applies their own lock and tag; equipment cannot be re-energized until every lock is removed by its owner. Electricians, HVAC techs, and anyone working on industrial equipment must follow LOTO. JSA documentation of LOTO procedure is standard practice.
