Daily Log

A daily record of jobsite activity: weather, crew, work completed, blockers, and notes.

A daily log is the contractor's contemporaneous record of what happened on the jobsite each day. Modern daily logs include weather (auto-pulled from a weather service), crew count and names, work completed (often by phase), materials delivered, visitors, blockers, and notes. Daily logs are critical evidence in disputes — without them, the contractor relies on memory months later. Many contracts require daily logs as a condition of payment.
